Sunday Morning
Sunday Morning
Adult Sunday Classes meet at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday. You are welcome to attend any class in which you feel comfortable and fulfilled. When you walk in the building there is an information center right at the door where someone can direct you to one of the following classes:
College And Beyond: CAB exists to help college age students be completely and joyfully surrendered to God by connecting them with other like minded peers, fixing their eyes and hearts on God through His word and in community. Professor John Johnson (WPC) and his wife Gwen are teaching this class using the lectionary. They also have monthly lunches together. First one, September 11th at John and Gwen’s home. Join us Sundays at 9am, in the first classroom upstairs on the left of the sanctuary.
Genesis: Made up of married couples mostly 20’s-30’s, with and without children, this class provides a place for study and fellowship.
Pastor Denise will be teaching and leading discussion around the meaning of marriage, February 5th – March 11th, in the Genesis Sunday School Class. Besides her own 18 year marriage, Pastor Denise will use resources such as, Timothy Keller’s book, The Meaning of Marriage, and Gary Thomas’s work, Sacred Marriage. We would love to have you join us if you have children under twelve.
Striving for Excellence: The relational aspect of this class is worth coming for alone, but the teaching will stimulate your thinking, challenge your life, and give you practical direction. This fall, Gary Walker, will teach from Eugene Peterson’s book on Jeremiah, Run with the Horses. Made up of a variety of ages mostly 40’s-50’s. Check out Gary’s Blog
Open Hands: This class enjoys lively discussion on current topics. They use God’s Word, current magazines, internet articles, books and newspapers to think critically and discuss the issues we face today as Christians. “We practice and honor freedom of speech and thought in an atmosphere of love.”
PathFinders: This class offers a caring, supportive group with prayer, study, and discussion as the format for their time together. They are studying the book of Isaiah.
The Kingdom Seekers: “Not a destination, but a journey together” is the philosophy of this class. Join this servant oriented class as they serve breakfast each Sunday morning at 8:30 followed by good teaching using portions of the lectionary and fellowship.
Joy Class: This group of senior adults enjoys singing, studying God’s Word, and fellowship! This is a very encouraging and welcoming group who have wonderful life experiences to share. They will continue this fall with a study on the life of Elisha.
Crown Financial Ministries:
Crown has developed their excellent material to fit into a one hour Sunday Morning time slot. The class, led by Ed and Deedee Bergler, includes a 20 minute video teaching on handling your finances according to God’s Word and principles, plus group discussion around the material. This class is a seven week commitment beginning September 18th.
Welcome Class: We want you to get comfortable and connected here at Mt. Scott. This is a six week class held a couple of times a year, designed to help us get to know you, introduce you to who we are as a church, and meet other new comers. Join us at anytime, it is a rotating class. Led by Pastor Bob and Barbara Christensen. Ask at the info booth for more information.
